February 2026
by Lisa Robbins

Flu is flying around the town, sending unfortunate victims to their beds.
Who wants a throbbing headache, high temperature, aches and pains? Or congestion, coughs and weeping eyes?
If you or a family member is suffering from flu, here are a few inspired natural tips to nip it in the bud or speed your recovery.
Pickle Socks
Soak cotton socks in pickle juice that has garlic in it. Put these socks on your feet with pair of wool socks over top. Let the pickle juice extract toxins for a few hours.
Epsom Salts* and essential oils
Put two cups of Epsom salts into a bath as hot as you can stand. Add a few drops of frankincense, lemongrass and spruce essential oil. Soak at least 15 minutes, longer is better. Then rub lemon grass on the bottom of your feet
Don’t have a tub? Do you have a bidet? Or a large plastic tub? Repeat above (one up salts) and soak your feet.
Hot lemon water
make up a thermos of this with a touch of honey in it. Drink throughout the day.
*called Magnesio Solfato or Sale Inglese Epsom here in Italy. Buy them at the farmacie and many erboristerie. Cheapest is to order online
