I had intended to write a nice X-Mas Carol, a one-day-in-the–dental-clinic story or just give some healthy info and Dos and Don’ts. Alas, my creativity was nowhere to be found….
Now that the temperatures are dropping and we are quickly approaching the end of the year and its festivities, I would like to provide you with a telephone number for dental emergency.
Dental emergency number in Florence is 340.628.2779.
This service, called “SOS Dentista,” is available on weekends and holidays to provide assistance to residents and tourists who cannot see their regular dentist.
Language: English is not guaranteed
Cost: Service is subject to a fee
Dental emergencies can be particularly stressful during Christmas due to limited access to dental care, increased consumption of sugary and hard foods, and the potential for accidents. Common emergencies include toothaches from untreated decay, tooth fractures, and knocked-out teeth, all of which require prompt attention to avoid complications like infection or permanent damage.
While waiting for professional help, temporary relief can be sought by managing pain with over-the-counter medication. If that does not work you might take another grappa. The so-called drink&dial the-Emergency-Dentist.
Other homemade remedies are applying a whole clove to the painful area for temporary relief. You should sleep with extra pillows.
Be especially careful of worsening of existing issues: a minor, pre-existing dental problem like a small cavity can quickly escalate into a severe toothache. Be sure to have a healthy mouth, also when you are travelling or when your dentist is away.
