The Pleasure Principle: An Evening with La CLIT
Our last official meeting of the season was dedicated to pleasure and featured Giulia Heuser and Francesca De Gaudio, co-founders of La CLIT, Coffee, Literature, Inspiration & Toys, a new Florence-based project on sexual wellness and body-positivity culture.
Giulia and Francesca engaged a riveted audience in a conversation about how the project was born, its mission, what they do, and how the response from the community has been thus far.
La CLIT is so much more than just an online shop selling quality sex toys and other luxury sexual health items: the core of the project is the creation of a moment in time to discuss sexual wellness together, openly and candidly, while enjoying a coffee or a glass of wine.
It is the result of personal and communal needs to find a shared space for openly discussing and learning about topics such as pleasure, sex toys and body awareness.
During their presentation, they told us about their mission to create a community that promotes sex positivity and inclusivity which is exactly what they are doing, exploring the many facets of our sexuality through the lens of culture, live events, and an online store with high-quality body-safe products, with a special eye to sustainability, manufacturing and design.
Our event was an informative, light-hearted, fun and welcoming gathering where we were able to have an open and intelligent exchange about topics that are often avoided and about which there are still many taboos. With knowledge, humor and affability, Giulia and Francesca, both licensed sex educators, also walked us through the wild world of pleasure toys, giving us crucial information about how to select body-safe products that can really change our relationships with our bodies and our pleasure.
There were many questions from the audience about a wide array of topics which Giulia and Francesca answered expertly and warmly. It was a truly wonderful evening to learn and share in a safe place of culture and knowledge.
Be sure to follow La CLIT, they are hosting sold-out pop-ups on topics of interest to a vast and diversified audience at various venues throughout Florence and Tuscany. They are also looking at pleasure holistically, organizing private and public events like wine tastings, workshops, or other activities that highlight the various intersections and interconnectedness of all kinds of pleasure.
