Let Go and Let it Happen: Vibrations and Resounding Applause
by Lisa Robbins
Here’s all you do:
Lie down in a comfortable position. Close your eyes. Take three cleansing breaths. Let go as you breathe out. Never mind what you have done, what you haven’t done, it’s alright. Just now, sense the sounds entering your ears, playing over your heart, vibrating near your feet.
They slow brain waves, bring your body back into balance, weave a tender nest from crown to root for physical and mental wellbeing. Rest.
Sound Healing is an ancient practice that harnesses the power of vibration to promote healing and relaxation. I use Tibetan singing bowls and medical tuning forks in my work as a Sound Healer. Each instrument is calibrated to a frequency that resonates with a specific body part. The 128 Hz fork encourages mobility in stiff joints and releases the psoas muscle, which is often tight. It sparks nitric oxide which repairs cells and bolsters the immune system. Presto: anxiety levels decrease. The 64 Hz fork reduces aches, balances menstrual function and smooths sleep. Depression disappears.
Visions appear, colours and images. Emotions may arise too. They feel invited. If anger or fear, frustration or despair come, welcome them. They will be nurtured, bathed in a space and time you don’t usually have. You’re taking care of what needs your attention. Incredibly, when the glowering anger next emerges, it’s smaller.
Music is a powerful tool, you know this. A fast rhythm revs the heart beat; a slow one calms you, even puts you to sleep. While tuning forks and Tibetan bowls won’t make a Bach fugue, their vibrations will provide energy and stamina. You cope … with better grace.
My sessions last an hour and take place in a cool room on a comfortable treatment table in my clinic near the Arno River. Whether you bring heavy monthlies, headaches or housemaid’s knee, sound therapy offers harmonic resonance and a gentle, non-invasive path to cure.
*WIN helped make it happen. Just last week I earned my Practitioner’s Diploma from the Sound Healing Academy in Devon, England. Two smile box members played central roles in this exhilarating year-long process: bless you, RM and BB. Other WIN angels were my guinea pigs; you know who you are. I learned heaps. Thank you.
